No Internet After Update

Chris

Hello,

I updated my laptop with Security Update for Windows XP (KB956744), and
Update for Windows XP (KB951978). After restarting my laptop, It will not
access my wireless network.

The computer says that that the wireless lan is working, and I have triple
checked my password, but it will not connect to my Belkin N+ wireless router.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Which wireless "control" application are you using? You have a choice
on Belkin's or Microsoft's Wireless Zero Configuration. You should
not be using BOTH (it should not even be possible.)

This mean that the wireless is ON but neither the computer renewing the IP
address nor the Router dishing out IP or serving that Machine with IP! And
this can be due to many reason:
1- Winsock damaged/corrupt
2- Wireless Router need to be restarted to get the Wireless Beams up in the
Air!!!
3- You need to restart the Putter twice or switch OFF the Wireless Switch on
the Computer Off then ON and see if it will acquire an Ip and the router will
release an IP to the machine in question.

Now come to the nitty gritty stuff;

- Turn OFF then ON the wireless Switch on your Machine or Disable and
Renable the wireless and see if that will help to acquire and be assigned an
IP.

- Open a run command and try to repair the winsock by running these commands:

Click Start >> Run >. Type in:
ipconfig /flushdns click [OK]
ipconfig /renew click [OK]
netsh winsock reset click [OK]

Restart your machine and see if that will help connecting to the Int.

- Turn the Router OFF for about three minutes and also at the same time the
Laptop/Computer then Turn the Router/Modem ON back and wait for about two
minutes ( for the Router/Modem to get an IP address from the ISP) then turn
the Laptop/Machine ON and see if that will help.

Let us know your progress.
