Any one have any suggestions on a good, preferably free, disk image program that runs under XP Home
and will do a complete disk image of the XP disk? I' am looking for a program that will allow me
to image XP Home to another HD on the same system then run the XP image from the other HD, after
changing boot HD in BIOS. Any hello appreciated.

- Ghost, Acronis, DriveImage
- Snapshot (http://www.drivesnapshot.de/en/down.htm)
(requires no installation)
- xcopy.exe when booting with a Bart PE boot CD
(free, http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/#download)

Geez...where's Carey's reply to this post?

Carey ?

If you use xcopy in conjunction with a Bart PE boot CD then
remember this:
- You must copy all files, visible and hidden.
- You may have to run fixboot and fixmbr from the Recovery
Console to make the cloned disk bootable.

Must be sleeping in ...

Another utility to check out is IFD (Image For DOS) and
IFW (Image for Windows) as well as BING -- all from
terabyte inc -- http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/
while a bit "geeky", their products work well and there is
a good support group (they even have their own news
server you can connect to). I gave up on Acronis "TrueImage"
after purchasing both version 8 and the version 9 upgrade
after experiencing the same problems many others were
having. For some people it worked fine, but there were
too many trap doors for me to trust it for system backups.
BING from Terabyte is a cool product - you can image
a partition, move partitions, change their sizes etc.
mikey

True Image by Acronis is being recommened in a comparative test from
2006. It's mid priced.
