Need Utility Boot Disk

A friends computer is infected and I need a XP boot disk. What is the name
of the Microsoft file I can download and burn to make a bootable disk for
utility work. If I remember correctly it only runs for a few hours then
dies. I just need to get antivirus utilities to check his C:

I believe he has XP Pro

If the machine won't boot, you can remove the hard drive from the affected
machine and slave it into another computer and scan it with the host
computer's AV and antispyware applications. This has the advantage using any
scanning utility- not all appications will run from a boot disk.

need to clarify what is an "XP boot disk" since there isn't one.

If you're asking how to download Windows XP, this is not a pro-pirating
or pro-warez newsgroup.

Well, if "it" was your friend's computer, why can't he run the AV
programs on it while it is still up? Or use the online scanners (they
won't repair but they'll let you know what, if any, malware is present)?
