Need to update product key XP Pro

I recently purchased online an OEM CD XP Pro - pre SP1; and installed
on my machine is XP Pro w/SP2. I have tried several Update Product Key
/ ID utilities. No luck so far. Suggestions?

Slipstream SP2 onto new CD.
Use new CD with SP2 slipstreamed to perform a repair installation.

Is Windows XP installed on the computer also OEM?
If not, that is the reason since the different versions are not compatible.

I just tried a VBS and got my product key changed and went to MS to
validate and they say this key is invalid too....
Ooops
I will try and stop payment on my credit card.
