need to recover lost user accounts

In performing PC System recovery, I lost all user accounts.
I can't execute any of the software applications I
installed or downloaded either.
Under "document and settings" folder there still exist the
folder of the old user accounts with all the subfolders.
Is there anyway I can reinstate those user accounts?
Can I do something like create a new accounts and somehow
point to the old folders?
Is there anyway that I can reinstate the the ability to
execute the software applications I installed withour
reinstalling them again?

Hi John,

By doing this, you have removed the security id's (SID's) associated with
the original installation. You cannot recover them, this is why doing a
repair installation (which would preserve them) is recommended over a
reinstallation.

All you can do at this point is take ownership of the data files from those
profiles, then move it to the new ones. Programs will need to be reinstalled
under the new system folders, as they will need to reestablish registry
entries and place needed support files in the system folder.

I have the basic same proble, I had to reinstall whole
system back to day one, and now only account that is
totally functional that is all programs can be opened is
the main account, the other accounts are there but not
all programs can be opened by the users. Hope help is
around the corner for both of us.
If you get some type of answer before I please reply to
my question!
