need to recover e-mail from failing drive, Outlook not operating.

Client went in and turned off everything that mentioned remote or network in
admin services. XP will not let me restart services. She needs e-mails out of
outlook 2003. Where can I find the folder for these? I have her up and
running on a clean drive, but she needs her old e-mail.

If she was storing locally on the drive, it should be in .pst file.
You can search for the file extension....

Depends if the user used Business Contact Manager. If it's just Outlook it's
located in: c\docs and settings\users name\ Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook. There should be a *.pst file called Outlook. If
there's a file called "Archive" take that too. When you paste in on the new
machine overwrite the original (or rename the original first).

Not necessarily. It's true that's the default for Windows XP, but nothing
requires that the PST file be there.

It's a default location, $100 says it's there. Didn't say it was there for
sure, but most Outlook users use the default location.

Yes, you did, and I quote "it's located in...", or do you not understand
what "it is" means? You didn't say "it's likely in" or "it's probably in",
you said "it _is_ in".
