Need to publish back from Internet to pc?

My old FP 98 site is already saved onto my (new) pc’s hard drive, so why is
it seemingly still necessary to download (or rather “publishâ€) the site from
the Internet back onto the pc before starting to update it in PF 2002? Why
can I not just start updating it with FP2002 and then over-write by uploading?
Thanx,
Lochi.

How did you "save" the site to the new PC??
If you burned it to a CD and then copied it to the new machine, you're going to have
problems because all of the files are now set as "Read only"

You would do this to make sure both copies are in sync with each other. This needs to be done when
ever you reinstall FP or upgrade. It does matter which direction you publish in, as long as you are
publishing the most recent updated copy.

I saved it first in a "back-up" folder on the hard drive of my old pc, then
physically fitted the old pc's hard drive as a slave in the new pc, then
copied all from the old to the new drive. I also copied my site to the
network at work and onto the hard drive of my work pc, using a Zipp 100
(before the days of memory sticks).
Thank you,
Lochi

The best approach is always to use the FP Publishing command.
