Mr. Merokee
I am using a VPR-Matrix computer with Windows XP Home
Edition as the operating system. The computer was given to
me by my daughter, after she had bought it new and used it
for about 6 months. She decided to obtain and use a laptop
exclusively, and I hav since used it for about a year with
few problems.
To make a long story short, I had found that recently the
performance was tailing off, and after deleting some
programs and checking into some other items, I now find
that I can not log on to windows when first starting the
machine. I am the administrator but I either can not
remember my password, or it is not being recognized. I can
not now even start in safe mode because it has been asking
for my password first.
Does anyone know of a work around, so that I can get past
this, or a way that I can find out what the password is
that the program is looking for?
I am the primary and only user on the machine except for
an occasional guest. I do have some fairly important
documents and programs on the system I would hate to lose.
I do not have any current backups on hand.[Not too bright,
heh?] Will I loose much of my stored data and software if
I were to use the restore discs that came with the machine?
Any advice or suggestions would be most appreciated.
Sincerely,
Bill {Feeling Like The Dummy]
