Need to fix a forest/domain problem

I have a single domain in a win2k forest. The forest presents a
problem as I had named it name.mycompany.com instead of mycompany.com
which is what I should have done.

All my users log into name.mycompany.com. I want to add a subdomain or
even a new domain, but don't like the idea of
newdomain.name.mycompany.com especially from a dns standpoint.

Is there a way to create a new forest called mycompany.com and then
move everything from my current forest into it as a domain within the
new forest?

Many Thanks,
Allen

I believe you could. You might want to migrate to Wk3 first.
Of course the larger the organization the biggest the effort. How many
domain controllers, member servers and clients are we talkin about ?

I could reduce it down to 3 domain controllers, two exchange servers,
about 7 member servers. About 500 users and about 300 security groups.
