Need to delete of Op Systems from boot sequence

I was using my main computer, running Windows XP, to
install an OEM Windows Home on a second hard drive for a
new computer I am going to build.

It failed miserably. But no problems there. The drive was
bad, so I removed it and sent it back.

The problem is that now when ever I boot up my computer
it asks me if I want to enter Windows XP (the OS for this
machine), Windows Home (what I was trying to install on
the second hard drive that no longer exists) or Windows
Set Up.

I don't mind these options being there so much, but it
defaults to set up which is a pain.

How can I delete the XP Home and Set Up options from the
boot sequence?

If I can't delete them how can I at least change the
default to Windows XP, the c: drive OS for this machine?

Note: I tried entering the Set Up boot to see if there
was a way to delete these from there, but it said it
couldn't boot because of missing files.

I just want my computer to boot like it normally did
before this failed experiment. I'm green at this this so
be gentle.

Thank you.

1) Don't "pre-install" Windows XP for your computer "you are going to
build". Technically, since it was an OEM copy, you would have been in
violation of the EULA you should have read and agreed to when installing it
(likely just "agreed to" like everyone else - too long, too legal
mumbo-jumo-ish. heh) AND, it wouldn't have worked - you would have ended up
with some of the OS (as you are finding) installed on your current drive and
would have had to reinstall anyway.

2) What you need to do is edit your BOOT.INI file. Sounds daunting - it
isn't. Matter of fact, Microsoft has been so kind as to publish a full
guide to it for Windows XP here:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=289022

Your boot.ini file should end up looking a LOT like the sample (if you had
just Windows XP before.)

Good Luck!
