Need to Confirm Outlook 2007 Default PST Contents

Hi,

This is my first go with the Outlook discussion group. Hope someone can help.

I would like to backup only important Outlook 2007 information (Contacts,
Calendar, Tasks, Notes) and wish to confirm, and feel confident, that if I
copy the correct file(s) I have all this. I believe this should all be (in
addition to Inbox, Deleted Items and Sent Items) in the default "Outlook"
personal folder (or .pst), but it is very important this assumption is
correct so I get everything I need file-wise in a backup. Since I cannot
view the default "Outlook" personal folder, I can't confirm what would be in
it. So Q is: Can someone provide me the MS authoritative doc language
stating exactly what is included in the default "Outlook" personal folder in
Outlook 2007?

No such documentation exists. The format and content of PST files is
proprietary.
Why would you not just copy your default PST to back it up? That's what most
of us do. What makes you think you cannot view that file?

Hi Russ,

Many thanks for the quick reply. Sorry my Q was misleading. I believe you
thought I was asking a tougher Q than it actually was.

No need to view actual file or know anything proprietary here. I just want
to confirm that when I back up/copy the default Outlook file, I will be
protecting my:

Contacts
Calendar
Tasks
Notes
Inbox
Drafts (forgot this in first Q)
Sent Items
Deleted Items

Sorry again for my making the Q misleading/difficult the first time.
Perhaps it is a bit pedantic too, but I just wanted to be sure.

Best regards,

Jim

PS: I sent a reply earlier but got prompted again for my Live password, so I
responded again in case the first response didn't make it.

Indeed. When you make a copy of your PST file you will be backing up all
that and more, including rules and custom forms.
