I posted my message here because OE is written by Microsoft and this
group is viewed by a lot of knowledgeable folks.

Sure, so you might as well ask your SQL server questions in here too, then.
Posting in the *appropriate* groups will get you more help.
I did find what I was looking for.

Each one of you should give just as he has decided in his heart, not
reluctantly or under compulsion, because God loves a cheerful giver. 2
Corinthians 9:7

I'm pretty sure Microsoft didn't write that, so I'm not sure why it's here
either. :)

One assumes you're referring to Outlook Express, not Outlook.

Yes, you can restore KEEP.DBX to OE and then print messages in the resulting
folder, but you cannot access the file's data unless it's running in OE.

I am storing my job search emails in an Outlook folder called Keep.
If I store a backup copy of the Keep.dbx, can that be restored and the
emails printed?
(Even if the other .dbx files got corrupted.)

I started using Thunderbird Email and it has been running smoothly.

The file folder for storing messages is a lot smaller than OE.

If I am not running OE, is there any process that can be stopped using
msconfig?

(I play DVDs on my P-3 and the CPU usage is about 80 -> 85%. :-)

-----------------------------------
You never ever mentioned that you had a problem with OE. If you deleted old
messages and then compacted, the messages store will reduce in size.

What do you want to do with OE now? Do you believe it is the cause of the
CPU usage? What process do you want to stop?

I never said I had a problem with OE.

I just found a mail reader that has more features.

----------------------------------------

On another matter.

I installed Media Player version 11 to try it out. When I tried to re-
install Ver. 10 it wouldn't let me.

No problem, I now use Iview for playing CDs.

Incidentally, where does Thunderbird keep the emails? OE6 uses the .dbx
files but my OE gave up the ghost --I think after I installed IE8 ;-)

What a joke that IE8. It seems to have caused more problems than Vista.

Anyway, I would like to know where the equivalent of the OE .dbx files
are kept for Thunderbird to make back-up copies. I love Thunderbird
incidentally. I use it to download emails from several accounts. Lovely.
OE gave me so much trouble, unexpectedly losing all my email on several
occasions. MS CRAP!

This is where mine are kept.
I am going to see if I can change the store folder to my second drive.

Take care,

WhiteTea,
Did you try to 'uninstall' WMP11 from the 'Add or
Remove Programs' control panel?

That is how you are supposed to 'roll back' to your previous version of
WMP.

If you had no previous version or the previous version is not the
version you want - you must still 'uninstall' WMP11 from the 'Add or
Remove Programs' control panel before attempting to install another,
earlier version of WMP (as in WMP10 that you said you wanted to
install).

After 'uninstalling' via the 'Add or Remove Programs' control panel,
WMP 10 should install without problems.
