In Outlook XP, I could receive a letter, amend and return it with changes.
In Outlook 2003 I don't seem to have this option; I have to save the file to
My Docs and then re-attach it to a message. How can I fix this, or is it no
longer a feature?

I had the same issue too. The workaround I found was to select the
email message and FORWARD it. The document then appears in your email
message which you can then double click to edit. The changes are saved
in the doc within the email. The only drawback is that you have to
specify the email recipient, even though it may be just going back to
wherever it came from!

HTH.
