Need to Access Documents and Settings on a SLAVE DRIVE

I have a harddrive from another machine and need to copy all of the data.
Most of is in the Documents and Settings folders. How can I access all the
information on the Hard Drive.
 
once i install the drive as a slave to the current system how can I get all
the information on it. I get an you dont have permission error
