need some defragging help.

Hi everyone, i have a problem with my defragger.

i'm with windows XP pro and iv searcjed the who;e newsgroup for info but to
no avail.

when i try to defrag after only a few seconds i get a report saying that
some file could not be defragded, it turns out there is a problem defragging
a few files.

the files are VERY big and i was wnodering what could cause this, thie main
big files are:

256 MB: document and settings\All users\Application data\AOL\Storage\cashe.db

192 MB: \RECYCLERS\S-1-5-21-602162358-1957994488-854245398-1000\DC2.DMP
61 MB: \RECYCLERS\S-1-5-21-602162358-1957994488-854245398-1000\DM3.hdmp

and a few other: \doc and set\applicaions that i'm not too worried
about, but what could be stopping me PC from defragging these files, my PC is
getting VERY slow, and i'm sure that defragginjg these file would help.

Try it in Safe Mode, using the Administrator account. I assume you've done a
clean up already, right?

You should empty your Recycle Bin. The 192 MB file is a system
memory dump file. Unless it's required for debugging a fault there
isn't a reason to keep it around. The AOL file is a caching file for
storing data. I doubt that those few files are responsible for your
slowness. Overall you probably need a "Tune-Up" which includes
Disk cleanup, Chkdsk, Trim back Startup(s) and a full security
sweep with AdAware,Spybot, CWShredder and MS AntiSpyware
software.

Hi

The DC2.DMP & DM3.hdmp can be deleted before you defrag your hard
disk/partition.

Also try deleting the cashe.db file to the Recycle Bin. Leave it there for
a few days before deleting completely - as it is related to AOL it could be
for anything.

Try defragging again after the deletion of those 3 files.
