Need Rule to auto bcc outgoing mail

M

Marc Seidler

I have a client who wants all outgoing emails be sent a bcc copy. They want
to track outgoing messages from salesperson accounts. I see where you can
create a rule to auto cc a copy but not bcc. They prefer that the recipient
did not see the 2nd address. Any ideas?

Are they using an Exchange server? If so, what version? What version of
Outlook are you using? Do you have any server-side anti-spam solutions like
GFI?

You could use [1]. It's an cost free add-in that allows you auto-bcc and
many other helpul features. It's in german language indeed, but you need
not much knowledge of german language to understand.

Yes it is possible with a 3-rd party add-in for Outlook called
SilentMail. SilentMail enables you to monitor all outgoing Outlook
email messages in your company by automatically sending a BCC copy to
one or more email addresses which are specified during the installation
(and cannot be changed later). Since the program uses the BCC method by
default, there no trace in the Sent Items folder and the process is
invisible to the user.

You can find it here:

What kind of POP server? Sendmail or ? You're probably going to have to
consult with the POP server vendor to inquire if they have any journaling
capability on that kind of server.

Otherwise you'd have to use some sort of client-side utility and that will
be difficult to hide from the users.

By the way -- hopefully you've run this plan past the legal dept. too. In
some jurisdictions there can be some pretty serious consequences for
monitoring e-mail (even company e-mail) surreptitiously if you don't have
the proper employee employment agreements and policies in force.
