NEED PROGRAMS TO STOP WRITING TO DISK

I really need to run a Defrag and scan disk from time to time. The problem
is that I can't get either one to run. I'm not sure if it is programs
constantly writing to the disk but I believe this to be the problem. HOW CAN
I RUN A DEFRAG and/or SCANDISK.

Sorry unless it is Microsoft Access writing to file you have the wrong
newsgroup. This is the Microsoft Access Database newsgroup. It appears
your question is not related to that database. You are much more likely to
find someone with the answer if you post your question to a newsgroup
devoted to your subject.

Microsoft's misleading Help system has tricked you into posting this
question in a newsgroup for the database program Microsoft Access.
Please repost in a newsgroup down the list, for your particular
version of Windows.

You may want to look up "Safe Mode" in the online Help though.
