Sapphire 9800 XT
Hauppauge TV card
Adaptec 39160 SCSI controler
Audigy 2 platinum

2 x 34 gig Scsi HD
2 x 120 gig SATA IDE
2 x 120 gig IDE raid
1 x 80 gig IDE USB
4 x CDrom/DVD
8 x USB devices ( scanner,printer,webcam,multicard reader, mouse enz.)

Can the A-open 400w power supply do the job or need i a stronger
powersupply.
I have no problems, but i have replaced a Geforce FX5900 128mb with the
Sapphire 9800XT 256mb.
With the FX in my system i had a error: "not enough power for max
performance"
I was copieing a lot of data then from one HD to another.

Take a look at the rating on the 12 volt line of the supply. You would need
one with a high rating for this line. All those drive and hungry video card
and CPU will draw a lot of current. You can add up the amp ratings for all
of your devices and see if it is more than the supply is rated at or just
install a monitoring program and monitor the voltages and see if they are
within spec. and stable.

I'm running an athlon 2000XP box with a 9800pro and 5 drives with a Sparkle
Power 350W supply that is only rated at 9Amps on the 12v leg. This is quite
low by todays standards but all runs fine. When picking a new supply, look
at the wire size used especially for the 12 line that goes to the main ATX
connector. Get one that has heavy gauge wire, a lot of the supplies now
use 20 gauge wire which is too small for the high current draw on this line.
The other lines all have multiple conductors but for some reason they
thought one was enough for the 12 line. Always stay with a big name in
supplies, they usually only cost a few more dollars.

Get an Antec 550 Watt 'Tru-Power' power supply. And hope for the best.
That's one of the heaviest duty supplies available, yet you have a Huge
load.

Take a look at the reviews of the Turbo-Cool 510 it is a rock solid PSU. I
have bought quite a few of there PSU going back about six years and still
have not replaced one yet. You can throw all you want at this baby and it
will not skip a beat. The only problem is the price it's not cheap. You get
what you pay for. You can also customize it if you like. I got a them to
install a different PSU fan in my 510.

I have got me a Tagan 480W, and i'am impressed !!
Very stable system, even when i overclock with 20%.
The Tagan has 28A on the 12V output, enough for a lot of HD's.
And has so much connectors that there is no need anymore for a
powersplitter.
Compare with my "old" A-open 400W or the Zallman 400W, they have 16A and 15A
on the 12V, even the 550W enermax has only 24A on the 12V.
And with the A-open or Zallman i need 5 spliiters to connect all
peripherals.
The Tagan has also two SATA connectors.

Thanx for all the advise, Martin
