intake fan in front of case
Allied True Power 450 Watt power supply
(AMD Approved list pwr supply)
Antec Aluminum Case
I'm getting BSOD's for a driver, of course M$ can't say which one, but I'm a
little leery of the nForce IDE drivers, is there something maybe a little
more stable than the IDE drivers that came with the board? Maybe some M$
ones? The only other thing I think it might be is either the ATI radeon, or
the MBM5. I did not have the problems previous to the MBM5 but how can that
cause it when everybody else is running it for diode temp........the Radeon
drivers I have loaded are old, they came with the card and M$ has newer ones
on the "update" page.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance

What's your multiplier? Have you tested your system for stability with
Prime95? Seems like you are pushing a little far, running @ 3200. Also, what
timimgs are set for your memory? Another issue could be voltages, what
voltages are you running? I would run memtest, then try Prime95, if either
give you errors, try lowering u'r multiplier. I have seen 2500's run w/out
errors at pretty high #s, but not 3200, so try backing off a bit until u'r
stable.

I have a similar setup to you except an ABIT AT7K KT333 and 64MB MSI Geforce
4 Ti4200 and my I just break 12k 3D Mark 2001se this is w/o any external
software programs like geforce tweaker which tweak the drivers & nvidia
43.45 are you running the latest drivers they are slow for these cards.

What are your settings for you video card clock speeds? Also, 64MB card will
run faster than a 128MB card on the older apps like 3dMArk2001se. Works for
what I do, playing Ghost Recon Desert Seige, Call of Duty Demo, Zoo Tycoon
and XIII. No issues so far. Will likely upgrade the card around March to a
newer geforce fx, just not sure which.

I run my XP 1700 (166*12) @ 1.675v and Ti4200 at 285/610 I see you clock
yours lower. I think you would probably break 11k if you ran your Ti4200 at
these settings too as for the other 1000 3D Marks I maybe thanks to the ABIT
BIOS unless your running the latest drivers - 43.45 are the best for this
cards IMO.

I am running the latest drivers. The 52.16 Forceware drivers. I found these
to be the best for nview settings I use with my dual monitors. I have a vga
monitor and a TV I use on clone mode.

As for your overclock settings, I found I had some degredation of the nature
scene in 3dMArk2001 when I went that high. The butterflies would have
trailing lines. I am willing to sacrifice a little on the benchmark to gain
stability, so I went with the lower settings.

Do you have the MSI card, or another manufacturer?

Have run memtest over night, no prob's. Have not run "prime95" where can I
get that???
Pwr Suppy is an Allied 450 True Power and it is stable, as far as MBM5
says.....
Thanks

Some how this thread totally left my original question, an became involved
with someone else's setup, one with an nVidia video card.
I need to know if there are better drivers for the nForce2 chipset. I have
loaded the latest from the ASUS site, and have heard that the ones from
nVidia are not working well on the ASUS MoBo. I personally think that it is
a problem with the IDE drivers, and would like to load something else, maybe
some Microsoft drivers for the nForce board?
Thanks
Bitsbucket
Oh, and since I have stopped running MBM5 for the monitoring of voltages and
temps I have not had a BSOD. I really don't understand how MBM5 can cause me
problems when others run it wih the same Mobo with no problems.......
TIA

The only way to tell if you have a hardware problem or a driver
problem is to disable your overclocking and run it at the specified
clock frequency. If you get BSOD running normally then it is is likely
to be drivers. However, if it suddenly starts to work OK, then you're
overclocking it too aggressively.

I have an A7N8X (non-deluxe) and I am not overclocking. After I downloaded
the new nforce2 drivers, I also started experiencing the BSOD...same type of
error message. My system was rock-solid until I updated... I think you may
be on the right track regarding the IDE driver. Any viable solution yet?

I quit running MBM5 and it is stable as a rock now......however I still
think the IDE drivers are not the best in the world.....
The 2500+ is the best overclocker since the old 300A celly....most of them
would run 450 right out of the box! I have seen lots of people sucessfully
overclok the 2500+ to 3200+ by just doing the 200Mhz FSB adjustment, I am
running good memory (PC-3500) with copper heatsinks.....like I said, I don't
know why but my setup just does not like motherboard manager version
5......strange but true.

Just add 10C to Asus PCProbe's CPU temp display, that should be pretty
close to the CPU die temp. MBM5 is nice but a bit overkill.

I was running my XP2500/333 as a XP3000/400 for weeks and things worked
great. Tried to bump it to 3200 and got a BSOD. Ran Memtest, showed no
errors. I found out after a few tries, the BSOD was occurring as MBM5
was loading. It doesn't use a lot of resources once it's running but I
think it needs a bit to get started. I'm using Geil Ultra PC3200
2x512mb 6-3-3-CL2. When I bumped the DDR voltage from 2.6 to 2.7 no
more BSOD and things were stable once again. Afterwards I read on their
website's FAQ's this may be necessary due to measurement differences on
some Mobo's!
