I am been trying to install new sidebar gadgets for a while now, but all i
keep getting is "installation of windows sidebar gadget is managed by your
system administrator"

I am the system adminstrator, and i have tried to install a few gadgets but
it keeps coming up with the same text

Any ideas

This error is caused by a Policy setting that prevents installation of unsigned Gadgets. Is your Vista system connected to a corporate network?

Click Start, type: gpedit.msc and hit enter.
Go to "Computer Config./Admin. Templ./ Win Components/Windows Sidebar, and
set the "Disable unpacking and installation of gadgets that are not
digitally signed." to disabled

click the Ratings button. Voting helps the web interface.

I restarted and it was still the same,

however, whilst i was there i checked out the user configuration./Admin.
Templ./ Win Components/Windows Sidebar
and noticed that "turn off user installed gadgets" had been enabled,
i disabled that and now everything is working fine.

i have no idea how that could have been enabled as i never new about the
gpedit.msc before now, but anyway i thankyou Mark for leading me in the right
direction and everyone else who tried to help me
