Need new XP Home CD

Just wondering if it is possible to get the CD of XP home off Microsoft
without a COA. I have the COA already stuck to my pc but the CD is missing
and I need to reinstall the OS. I remember some software that you could buy
a CD and it was like 10% of the cost cause they weren't selling you another
license if you scratch, broke or lost your original.

Your issue is with the manufacturer of your PC. You have an O.E.M. version
of Windows and it is supplied (likely in an altered condition to match their
hardware) by the PC's manufacturer. Call them.

Hi,

If you have the COA, you can borrow an XP Home CD (Library? Friend?
Local PC Users group?), reinstall Windows to your PC using your attached
COA, and then register/activate the machine with Microsoft - without doing
anything illegal. Bear in mind that you'll still need to install Service
Pack 2 from somewhere, though - so borrow an 'SP2' copy of XP Home if you
can.

Philip

An install key for an O.E.M. version of Windows XP will NOT work with a
retail version of Windows XP. You will need the "exact" O.E.M. CD from a
friend in order to do what you suggest.

Having the CoA affixed to the PC is a clear indication that you have an
OEM license for WinXP. To obtain a replacement installation or recovery
CD, you'll need to contact the computer's manufacturer; Microsoft
doesn't support OEM licenses.
