Need New Anti Virus

Since Symantec has decided to implement Program Activation, I will no
longer use Norton Anti Virus. But I like the incoming E-Mail scan
feature. In fact, I don't see how any anti virus program can be taken
seriously if it doesn't have that feature.

Can someone recommend a good alternative to Norton?

I used Norton for a couple of years, which always caused me some issues
with corruption of the software. Now, I use NOD32 which has IMON to scan
the incoming emails along with NOD32 running about 10 times faster than
Norton on the drive scanning. Now, I have been running NOD32 for over a
year and I have not had any problems with NOD32 and it does its job.
There is a full version 25 day trail ware at the site.

AVG or NOD32 is probably your best bet.

Thanks for the suggestions. But AVG doesn't scan E-mail for Netscape.
And I can't stand MS Outlook Express.

I use Avast! - www.avast.com - which is free for personal home use and
scans in- and out-going e-mails under Mozilla Mail - and it is
frequently updating automatically (even with WinXP Pro SP2 RC1)!

I have used McAfee for several years. It has worked all right and is also
worth the 20-Euro-per-year subscription fee.

One disadvantage: once or twice it had to be deactivated for software
installation.

I'd recommend trying Trend Micro Internet Security. I've found it to be
an excellent internet security product. It will scan your Netscape
email, if you want it to.

I use Trend Micro Internet Security and it sure beats the hell out of
Norton's bloatware
You can use PCCTool.exe in the trend micro tools folder ( program files ) to
remove the built in firewall if you use another firewall.

What is NOD32 and IMON?

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I have found that several of the
programs do scan E-mail pop3 incoming and smpt outgoing, but they just
don't "integrate" with much except MS. (I guess that means the MS
stuff shows a button for the AV program.) Anyway, PC-cillin, Avast! 4,
AVG, F-Secure, KAV and NOD32 all scan pop3 and smtp. Avast! 4 and AVG
offer free versions for home users. I am now trying Avast! 4 and am
impressed so far.

Thanks, hawk
