A Little Help - Which Anti-Virus

S

SomeOne

Could someone please tell me if there is an
anti-virus/anti-rootkit/anti-spy-ware etc program that will just run from
and exe file. Do no want to have to install the program, just put the
software in a directory and tell it to run on occasion. I have Norton
Internet Security-2003/Norton Virus-2003 installed on my machine. I do not
believe it is the perfect software; however, it is a very invasive set of
programs and a pain in the a** to remove. Support for the software is for
all practical purposes non-existent, so I am hanging with it. I would just
like to find a program that will execute on demand and does not have to be
installed.

An excellent web based scanner but as with most on-line scanners it won't
get rid of any nasties and offers no real time protection.

Download David Lipman's MULTI_AV tool(there is a link to it on my
removal page). It has 4 scanners and does not install.

I'm wondering no postings from D.L. the last month. Before he posted
mostly daily.

Regarding the Norton product, you can download the Norton Removal Tool from
the Symantec web site when you're ready to uninstall it. The tool does a
thorough job regardless of how well or poorly the uninstall goes. Also, I
think you would be getting better protection using current products such as
AVG, Spyware Terminator and ZoneAlarm compared to NIS 2003 (because it's
almost five years old).
