Need more space to enter drop-down items

I'm creating a drop-down menu and I can't fit the full description of the
item because it apparently has too many characters. Is there a way to
increase the amount of characters allowed for a drop-down item?

The dropdown on the Forms toolbar has absolute limits of 50 characters per
entry and 25 entries. There is no way to make it hold more.

The alternative at http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=306258 needs some
macro programming. If you want to try that,
http://www.gmayor.com/installing_macro.htm will help.

You might be able to use an AutoTextList field instead, if you can use
shorter "titles" to let you pick from among the longer versions. See
http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/TblsFldsFms/AutoTextList.htm.
