I just got a new laptop and this is my first exposure to Vista which I
find very frustrating.

I was used to opening Windows Explorer and dragging and dropping files
to the CD drive, and right clicking to burn files to a CD. This was
much easier than dealing with a CD burning program.

Can I do something similar in Vista? I cannot find Windows Explorer.

Someone please help me.

Well they say timing is everything. I just did that 30 minutes ago.

1. You put in a CD or DVD.
2. A window pops up asking you what you want to do... only a couple of
choices. Select 'let Vista burn' or something like that (well it has been
30 minutes and my short term memory is short).
3. Vista will get the CD ready and open up Windows Explorer. The left pane
it will be on the CD and the right pane will have a message saying to drag
files here (to the CD).
4. So you do that. When you drop them Vista will burn them to the CD or
DVD.
5. When you are done right click on the CD in the left panel and 'eject'.
6. Vista will give you back your CD or DVD full of stuff.

Vista is wonderful. You just have you understand it.

You keep looking for Explorer. It's there... probably 'orb' 'all programs'
'accessories'... where it always was. Like all windows you could also right
click on the orb and select 'explore'.

Oh... what I call the orb in this post is the Windows ball that replaced the
Start button in XP. I shall now go research this stuff to make sure I
called it what it supposed to be called.

Despite all the "hoopla" , Vista works pretty much the same way XP does.
It should take all of about 60 seconds to get used to the differences.
Windows Explorer is accessed exactly the same way with Vista
as with all previous OS's going back to win95

I cannot find Windows Explorer.

yet another stupid fact of vista, they went and changed the color of the
windows explorer icon from YELLOW to BLUE and it looks really similar to the
show desktop icon...

W. explorer generally is a messed up peice of trash the way they changed
stuff...

I like change.. but they did everything wrong ! lol

with one small difference. XP just works, and Vista works like poo poo

Get lost you moron.

Windows Vista performs well for many people.

If you spent a fraction of the time finding resolutions to your issues
that you spend on aimless bashing, most if not all your issues would
be resolved.

Instead the description of your problem is limited to "works like poo
poo".
Little surprise you are unable to find solutions to any problems when
your descriptions are so useless.

Windows Vista works well on two older computers of mine.

Windows Explorer is in EXACTLY the same spot as on XP.

Start(Orb)>Programs>Accessories>Windows Explorer>right-click on it, and send
to desktop as a shortcut.
Once there, click on Organise>Layout>menu Bar> and you have your old "file,
edit, view, etc" toolbar.

All you had to do was LOOK!

And posting twice is a f**king annoyance to people that try to help you.

You waste my time, you cockhead!

I have no "problems" with vista. Vista is running as "designed".
And its designed like poo poo

why would I need to "ask" here anyway? I know more about vista than all you
guys
I fix computers for many people.. fixing problems is no challenge to me..

but Vista is crap by design.. you cant get that through your thick skull???

proving once again that YOU obviously cannot fix anything...if you could you
would quite your incessant whining about something that is so simple noobs
are having less problems than you !!!

"I know more about vista than all you guys"
This statement of yours tell a lot.
A few others say the same, but as you they demonstrate it as fiction.
For those who can rightfully make such a statement, they have no need
since their actions show their value.
Others like you on the other hand need to tout their abilities since
they are rarely seen.
You incessant whining usually void of useful information is the best
evidence of that.

I dont want to help people continue to use vista. Its a bad habit they
should stop.

I give them ONLY the best advice any good tech would tell them.. REMOVE THE
DARN THING!

Then I will assist them all they want.

And who made you the grand arbiter of the computer world? You or any of the
lamers/trolls/flamers. You don't like it, so what? Shut the f*ck up, and
quit bothering the people that actually want help. You and the others
clutter up the group with your pedantic, puerile blathering that only shows
that you and the others don't even have the IQ of a mold spore. Instead of
being a total waste of space, how about picking your OS of choice, going to
THAT group and actually helping out? Nobody gives a flying f*ck about your
opinion of Vista. All of you troll's posts only serve to indicate that
either your are lying about your so called experience and cannot even do
something as simple as set an operating system up, or are a 13 year old
pimply ass twerp sitting in Mommy and Daddy's basement, jerking off and just
trying yank everyone's chain. Which is it? None of you all's posts to date
have done nothing to indicate that you possess an IQ above an amoeba. So
until you are ready to actually interact with the human race, do everyone a
favor and go watch your screensavers on Ubuntu if you have actually been
able to set THAT up.
