Need help with subwebs and username/password protection

Hello! I hope I can explain this.

I have a website that has 2 subwebs under the root. One is private_members
(which has usernames/passwords entered thru the Server > Site Settings >
Admin. panel. This is for a private golf club and the members only area is
for members and has the roster, newsletter, info. specific to members, etc.

The other subweb is called public which of course is just for anyone
browsing the website.

I had the 2 subwebs working and everything was fine.

The host changed servers and moved several of my sites. When he did that, I
had to have him reinstall the FP server extensions 5.0.something (not the
newest Sharepoint server extensions as this is a Linux server).

When he reinstalled the FP SE's, the usernames/passwords disappeared. He was
able to find the file containing the usernames/passwords but I still can't
edit the site in Front Page. I have tried in both 2002 and 2003.

It keeps causing internal server errors.

Also, now, when I go in to the FP Admin. screen to add a user, the graphics
are not there and I get an error after trying to add a user that says it
can't add a user as there is no web at "" (nothing in between the quotes).

I am totally stumped. Why did everything work perfectly before moving the
site to the new server? The host server tech. guy has helped me by trying
uninstalling/reinstalling the server extensions several times.

He did just that and I opened the web and tried to create the 2 new subwebs
again. FP let me create the private_members subweb and then would not let me
create the new public subweb. Nor would it let me add just any new folder
and convert it to a web. After I created the 1 new subweb called
private_members, it kept breaking the extensions again. I couldn't open
pages or anything after that point.

Does anyone have any idea what is going on and can you tell me what we can
do to fix this? I know I could use ftp, but I know that would break the
extensions. I set it up this way so the client could add users and passwords
and also make minor content changes.

How did the host move the site between servers?

And if you used ASP for the security (user controls) on the 1st site, you will not be able to use it on the non-Windows server

The host said this about moving the site:

cpanel has a account transfer function.
the process is pretty simple:
tar up all the files on the old server, copy them to the new server, create
the account on the new server, untar the files on the new server.
then I update the dns zone to point to the new server.

You (or your host) will need to open the FP SE for the root and all subwebs and recreate the users and passwords

Installation instructions for non windows servers are at

and the FP SE for Unix are handled by RTR at
http://www.rtr.com/fpsupport/index.asp

Since you have the FP 2002 SE (version 5.x)
File Open Web/Site and enter your URL (log in w/ user id password provided by your host)
The run a Tool Recalculate Hyperlinks
- best at this time to use File Publish (All) to your local FP web since the server has changed (to sync the 2 sites)
Then to set other users and password use Tools Server Admin
