Need help with removing the w32\gael.worm.a

i can't get rid of this virus\worm.

I can restart my machine because i'm ruuning a important program that
my company needs.
The EXE file is infected with the virus and my windows exe's. i cannot
delete them.

i've scaned a other pc with the same problem and i had to do a full
reinstall of windows.

PLEASE HELP!!! Been battling With It For 3days.

Backup all data to CD if you can. What version(s) of Windows? I
suppose trying a old System Restore point was of no help? And
booting into Safe mode to do the av scans? Your best bet, short
of reinstalling Windows, is "formal" scanning ... the use of a
alternate OS. That's fairly easy with Win 9X/ME providing
you have a clean system available to prepare emergency disk(s).

The Gael is a true appending virus (rare these days). You have to not only clean the system
but make sure all executables that have been saved whiles infected on other media need to be
scanned.

Use the following tool. Download the needed file and scan the system. The follow the
directions to create a DOS Boot Disk or DOS Boot Disk with NTFS4DOS and ascne the system
again to make sure the PC is clean the scan all storage media. Anywhere you may have saved
EXE files. The following utility has a facility to scan a specific location. This could be
a USB Flash Drive, ZIP disk, etc.

Download MULTI_AV.EXE from the URL --

To use this utility, perform the following...
Execute; Multi_AV.exe { Note: You must use the default folder C:\AV-CLS }
Choose; Unzip
Choose; Close

Execute; C:\AV-CLS\StartMenu.BAT
{ or Double-click on 'Start Menu' in C:\AV-CLS }

NOTE: You may have to disable your software FireWall or allow WGET.EXE to go through your
FireWall to allow it to download the needed AV vendor related files.

C:\AV-CLS\StartMenu.BAT -- { or Double-click on 'Start Menu' in C:\AV-CLS}
This will bring up the initial menu of choices and should be executed in Normal Mode.
This way all the components can be downloaded from each AV vendor's web site.
The choices are; Sophos, Trend, McAfee, Kaspersky, Exit this menu and Reboot the PC.

You can choose to go to each menu item and just download the needed files or you can
download the files and perform a scan in Normal Mode. Once you have downloaded the files
needed for each scanner you want to use, you should reboot the PC into Safe Mode [F8 key
during boot] and re-run the menu again and choose which scanner you want to run in Safe
Mode. It is suggested to run the scanners in both Safe Mode and Normal Mode.

When the menu is displayed hitting 'H' or 'h' will bring up a more comprehensive PDF help
