Need help with probable virus/trojan

Dhropta Guli

I've been hit with malware that prevents Ad-Aware, Spybot and AVG from
running so I can't detect and hopefully delete it.
I now keep getting random browser pages advertising products from dating
to car insurance!
Is there a way out of this without having to format the disc and
re-install everything?
I have downloaded and installed fresh copies of Ad-Aware and Spybot but
they too are prevented from runnin

Help appreciated.

I don't think you've used the best tools. Here are my standard malware
removal steps.

Go through these general malware removal steps systematically -
http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_Malware

Include scanning with David Lipman's Multi_AV and follow instructions to do
all scans in Safe Mode. Please see the special Notes regarding using
Multi_AV in Vista.

http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Multi-AV - instructions

You can also check to see if there are targeted removal steps for your
malware here:
Bleeping Computer removal how-to's -
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/forum55.html
Or here: Malwarebytes malware removal guides - http://tinyurl.com/5xrpft

When all else fails, get guided help. Choose one of the specialty forums
listed at the first link. Register and read its posting FAQ. PLEASE DO NOT
POST LOGS IN THE MS NEWSGROUPS.

If you can't do the work yourself (and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea), take the machine to a professional computer repair
shop (not your local equivalent of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad). Please be
aware that not all local shops are skilled at removing malware and even if
they are, your computer may be so infested that Windows will need to be
clean-installed. If possible, have all your data backed up before you take
the machine into a shop.

Burn BitDefender, or another program listed at the link below, to a CD
(using a working machine) and test the infected machine with it.
BitDefender also has a Rootkit checker on the Linux Desktop; run it if
you think that's the problem:

http://www.techmixer.com/free-bootable-antivirus-rescue-cds-download-list/

Download the executable rather than the .iso image, if one is
available.. it prompts you to insert a CD and burns the file, no problem.

Then run these:

Malwarebytes© Corporation
http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam/program/mbam-setup.exe

SuperAntispyware

Thank you Malke and Elmo. Tomorrow I will have access to a non-infected
machine so I will download and try the various suggested solutions.
Out of interest, I tried to get to the malwarebytes site and it was blocked.

I had a similar problem. I downloaded the programs on a non-infected
machine. When I tried to run them on the infected machine they would not
open.

I had to resort to System Recovery to get rid of the nasties.
