need help with POP setup

i use google gmail for my emails. i need help to get my gmail acct through my
windows mail, that way i don't have to the gmail site when i want to check my
emails. i have mail.google.com in my POP3 and SMTP boxes. here is my error
message:

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'mail.google.com', Server:
'mail.google.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error:
10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

can somebody please help me figure this out!?!

Gmail... follow the instructions for Outlook Express... make sure you change
the port numbers...

before you can access POP mail, you have to enable it on the Gmail webmail
page...

incoming mail server should read like this: pop.gmail.com.
out going should read like this: smtp.gmail.com
next go to more settings: go to out going serve and check my out going
server needs auth. and check use same as incoming server

now go to advance and change incoming to 995 and out going to 465
and check both in and out need auth.

this should work..
