Need help with hyperline problem

When I copy and paste a hyperlink in to word it always pasts with the text: {
HYPERLINK "http://www.microsoft.com" }. Obviously I need to fix a setting in
Word. Can anyone help me? I am working on a term paper and it is driving me
nuts!!

Press Alt+F9 to toggle between field codes and field results.
 
You are a genius! I tried everything and even uninstalled and reinstalled the
program. Thank you!
