Need help with dusplay problems, please

My display mode has recently messed up, and it is permanately stuck on 640x480 pixels and 16 bit color. I have tried many things to fix this, but havent found the problem. Is there anything I can do to restore the settings? Any help is appreciated.

What are the "many things" you have tried?

I suppose booting into safe mode, deleting the display adapter, rebooting
into normal mode, downloading the latest video card driver from the
manufacturer and installing it over the default one is one of the things you
have tried?

Check the hardware device manager to make sure the correct display
adapter is installed. Also check the version of the display driver
and then check with the manufacturer to see if there is an updated
driver. Btw, you might boot to safe mode, chceck the device manager
and see how display drivers have ever been installed on the machine.
You might find more than one. If there is more than one, determine
which is the correct driver, then delete all the drivers and
re-install the correct one.
