Need help with configuring file sharing for small LAN

I have tried just about everything to get this to work.
The problem is, I can set up a workgroup i.e. MSHOME,
however, i cannot browse that workgroup to access files.
I've uninstalling and reconfiguring my NIC's, I've tried
formatting and recovering windows, i've tried resetting
my router, which happes to be a microsoft MN-100 gateway
router. Does anyone have any suggestions?? please... this
is driving me crazy

Did you run XP Network setup wizard on all machines? If yes, did you make
sure firewalls on all machines including the XP firewall was turned off
before running the wizard? There is a point in the wizard setup where you
are asked how this system connects to the Internet, an incorrect answer here
can block all access among machines on the network. Usually, Gateway is the
correct answer but you might have to experiment a bit to find the right
response for your specific setup.
