Hello all. I am running Win XP Home. I have a Zoom USB modem hooked up,
assigned to COM3. I've installed a PCTel 56k PCI internal modem. It defaults to
COM5 (the next available COM port). Irregardless of which COM port I assign it,
it always takes IRQ12. This conflicts with the USB hub, which is also operating
on IRQ12. When I'm done installing the internal modem, it tells me that the
device can not be started. I assume this is because it's sharing an IRQ with
the USB hub. In the properties, it does not allow me to manually configure the
IRQ.

Any suggestions? Email replies are appretiated.

IRQ sharing is normal on XP (I have four devices sharing IRQ 12). I don't
think this is your problem. Do you have the proper XP driver for the modem?
Go to the web site for the maker of your modem and see if there is a updated
driver.
