....a little background - A friend very recently ran an upgrade version of
W2k and it all came to a halt when it couldn'd read a file, (to do with
networking), off the W2k cd. I downloaded / made 4 W2k bootdisks set from
bootdisk.com and got it all up and running and the W2k upgrade, (from
W98se), finished up all okay. (after carefully cleaning some dust off the
cd!)
Now we want to uninstall old Office '97 which was lurking in there, in his
W98se platform before he upgraded to W2k and we get,
"Setup cannot access the required initialisation file msvcrt20.dll"
I had a little nose around and there seems to be a "ready to be installed"
copy of Office '97 on drive d:\ , but there is no msvcrt20.dll in that
structure. BTW his "installed" version of Office '97 is on drive c:\
.....I suspect that I could have deleted it, a long time ago, when searching
out duplicate *.dll's
.....am I on the right track ?
In any event - any advice on how to uninstall Office '97 without making a
mess, and of course without busting his "new" W2k platform would be ever so
appreciated !
regards, Richard
