Need Help to Remove Spyware/Trojan on Desktop

I recently downloaded a torrent file. I scanned it for viruses with Norton and none were found so I opened it. And now my desktop is a blue screen with a box in the middle that says:

"WARNING! Spyware detected on your computer! Install an antivirus or spyware remover to clean your computer."

It also erased the tabs in desktop properties for the background and screen saver. I've located the files but cannot delete them. I've run Spybot, Smitrem, Ewido, and Ccleaner, and nothing will get rid of these files. Spybot removed them but then they reinstall once you turn off the computer and reboot.

It has effected nothing else on the computer. Everything else works except the desktop and screen saver.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what I can do to fix this? Any help would be great!

Thanks

Im sure someone else will give you apointer but briefly before I go out i will ask if you have done all the above after booting up in safe mode? (F8 for XP whilst booting)

Also go download Avira Antivir and install that too

Yes, it was all done in safemode. Thanks for the other program to try. I'm going to do that right now. Hopefully it will work.

I tried Avira, and it didn't even find the file as corrupt. I know the file name since it comes up as a background and a screen saver, and has written itself into my C://WINDOWS32 folder, so I don't know what else to do.

You need to run a HijackThis log and then go to a specialist spyware/virus removal help site such as bleepingcomputer.com who will interpret it for you and help you with its removal :thumb:
