Need help removing Backdoor.Litmus.203.c from Windows XP Pro machine

I am running Windows XP Pro & Norton Anti-Virus 2003 and I have picked
up Backdoor.Litmus.203.c. Has anyone had any luck on removing this
virus? I check all over the web and the instructions are all the same.
Press 'ctr + alt + delete' and select task manager & click the process
tab. The problem I'm having is that when I select task manager, the
task manager comes up then quickly minimizes. If I try to click the
green box by the clock, it will disapear but the task manager won't
come up. Any ideas on this one? I have tried the above, using system
restore, updating Norton & scanning for virus's, using safe mode but I
have had no luck.

Thanks for any help, Dennis

Thanks for the help on this little problem Nick. I did as you said &
renamed Taskmgr.exe and it worked fine. The two programs I was looking
for weren't on the list. I tried using the registry editor to check on
registry entries and it started disappearing as well. I tried to copy
this from my other computer but it would dissapear after I renamed it.
I thought this was not going well so I dropped the partition and
reinstalled Windows XP & did a virus scan and nothing came up. I will
try a different scanner to be sure but I think it's gone. I just
wanted to thank you for the help.

Cheers, Dennis
