Need help on how to reformat hard drive & reinstall XP

I need to reformat my hard drive and then reinstall Windows XP Home Edition. I do not have a startup disk with the commands to format the hard drive. I created a startup disk using XP, but it does not put any tools on the disk. How can I get what I need to boot from the floppy & then reformat the drive?

The XP CD is bootable, you boot from the CD and do a clean install.

Hi

Hi

First, change the boot sequence to make the CD-rom become the 1st boot device
Try boot into BIOS and click the Boot tab, you can change the boot sequence there
Then insert the original XP CD into the CD-rom drive. Save and exit the BIOS settings
After POST, when the "press any key to boot from the CD" appeared, press the space bar immmediatel
to boot from the CD. You may only have 1 to 2 seconds to do so.
If you missed the chance to boot from the CD, just restart the PC and press the space bar continuousl
until it boot from the CD

Follow Michael Stevens suggestion to format the HDD and clean install XP from scratch

Change your BIOS to boot off the XP CD and insert it and boot. You will get
the chance to press a key to boot off the CD and when you do, follow the
prompts. You can tell it to format while in there, too.
