I am on a domain and I have a computer in a lab that I am trying to
logon to remotetly that has 2k the computer that i am trying to login
from has xp. My question is this I know I can login to the computer
with my same user name and password because its logging me into the
domain. but if I try to map the drive and use my user name and pass it
won't allow it. I know I can install remote desktop on the 2k machine.
But I was wondering if there is any way to login to the machine doing
everything remotely. Is the a way to telnet, net command, etc. that
will let me login to the C drive using my domain name and pass. and not
a local name and pass. Thanks.

You write "I know I can install remote desktop on the 2k machine."
This is incorrect - you can't.

Please explain how exactly you're trying to log in remotely.

Sorry I found this download and thought it was for both client and
server, but I didn't read all of it, I guess its only for connecting to
remote desktop.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/tools/rdclientdl.mspx

Things I tried to do to connect was telnet, use the net command, or
something like pstools. But I am not extremely familiar with these
tools and when I tried to connect it would say access denied. I
presume it was because I was trying to log on using my domain account
and not a local account to the computer.

You downloaded the Remote Desktop client. It can be used
to start a Remote Desktop host session on a WinXP Professional
PC or on a Windows Server PC. It cannot be used to turn a
Win2000 PC into a Remote Desktop host.

You can use "net use" to make a connection to a shared
folder on any Win9x/WinNT/Win2000/WinXP PC. Ask
your network administrator to assist you.

You can use psexec.exe (www.sysinternals.com) to launch
a Command Prompt on any network-connected WinNT/2000/XP
PC.

In all cases you must make sure that your local account/password
is synchronised with an account/password on the host machine.
