I want to erase the hard drive on a PC running Linux and install XP, but
I don't know how to get the computer to boot with the XP install disk.
I'm a Mac person and don't know Linux or Windows. With a Mac all you
have to do is hold down the "C" key when restarting to boot from a CD.
Is there some equivalent way to force a PC (even if it has Linux
installed) to boot from the CD?

You have to go into the bios of your machine and change
the boot order. Usually it is set to a then a hard
drive. You have to put the cd in there before the hard
drive. When it boots and it sees a boot parition on the
drive it never gets to the cd. There is usually something
in the bios that says... first boot device second boot
device and so on. Put the cd rom above the hard drive.
That should do it. Have a good one.
