Need help: installation halts after disk.sys

A

Alagondar

My pc is a HP t3360.nl (nl stands for The Netherlands):
Intel Pentium 4 processor 517
1 GB DDR2-SDRAM
200 GB (7200 RPM) including 6gb partition for system restore
1 DVD drive 16x
1 DVD writer 16x
Asus EN7800 GTX (based upon Nvidia Geforce 7800)

I installed vista under XP (Home edition sp2) en the installer does it usual
stuff:
copying files
decompressing files

After that the pc reboots into a black screen. I left it there once for 3
hours but nothing happened. Then I tried using safe mode with the menu
option "Windows setup". Vista setup start loading all these files and halts
when it reaches the file "disk.sys".

Is there a way to install Vista anyhow? I managed to install Vista on a
virtual machine from VMware with the iso image and that means that the iso
image is not corrupt. Also tried burning the iso at a lower speed (4x) and I
tried using the iso image in a virtual drive.

I hope someone can help me.

Regards,

Marc

ps. This post was made on a Vista virtual machine.

me having the same problem, i have searched the net but did not seem to find
a solution. But for some changing the BIOs to default settings has worked
maybe you can try that.

Search for disk.sys in the vista newsgroup.
