Need help in putting text inside a box without using Text Box function

Good day to all.

I would just like to ask how to enclose text inside a box without using
the text box function?

I was able to do it before by just clicking on an icon in the Paragraph
or Font pane. I don't really remember from which of these two. What I
remember is that the icon had a letter A and that letter A is inside a
box.

Now I don't see the icon anymore. I tried searching but just couldn't
find it again.

I hope you could help me. Thank you very much.

You cannot put text in a text box without using the text box function. What
you may be thinking of is a frame, which can be part of the paragraph
formatting.

The function with a letter A in a box is the Insert Text box function.

Gooo day Sir.

Thank you for your prompt reply. I have tried putting the text inside a box
using a frame but it is different from what I was able to do before.

In one of the posts here, I learned that to know if you are using a frame or
a text box, you just have to click on the border of the box and you'll know.

However, in my case, the box border is not left- or right-clickable. I don't
know why. Frames also do not accomplish what I intend to do with the text.

I simply want them inside a box. I was able to do them until yesterday but
can't do it now. I don't know what I clicked which made the icon disapper.
(I'm very sure it is an icon because that's what I always click to do the
job, like in my picture attachment). I am also very sure and definite that I
did it without using a frame or text box function.

Thank you.

You can add a border to selected text, a paragraph, or a table cell. Perhaps
that is what you were thinking of? Format | Borders and Shading in Word 2003
and earlier. In Word 2007, the Borders button is in the Paragraph group on
the Home tab.
