I have searched high and low on this with no luck.
I have three ide drives, two with a fresh (separate) install of XPpro.
Both will boot fine if I move the jumper to make them the master
drive. No problems. The third drive has no operating sys on it and is
used for storage only.
I want to be able to boot from the C or D drive without moving the
jumper. I have tried unsuccessfully by making changes to the boot.ini
in the C drive. Does the .ini file on the D drive need modifying too?
I tried Bootstar and it worked but when booting to the D drive, the C
and E drive wouldn't show up in a file manager and in the services
section (disk management) it showed the drives as "unallocated".
Is there a way to do this in the boot.ini? If not can it be done with
a boot manager? You'd think this would be a simple deal, but like
anything else in XP, it isn't.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Fred
