need help from xp expert

system reboots randomly-have no virus protection and cannot go long enough without reboot ing to download nortons or windows updates.also have many errors in app log stating event id code 1000 and appear to be related to file named sinf.exe also cannot open aol system info on start menu or any other way.have tried uninstalling aol and using different versions
