Need help for school?

Here are a couple of questions I'm having trouble with;

What is the purpose of running an automatic update on your computer?
Lets say I accidently printed a document 13 times, how do I delete the print
job from the computer?
When using windows explorer what do the - and + signs mean?

Automatic Update downloads and installs updates to the computer
operating system programming that are required to solve problems that
have been found. Most updates are to help sheild your computer from
viruii and hackers.

To delete multiple print jobs, go Start - Control Panel - Printers and
Faxes
Right-click on the printer that you used to print the jobs and click
Status on the menu that appears. Highlight and delete the unwanted
print jobs.

In Windows Explorer, the + and - signs in the tree view indicate if a
folder has been expanded. If you click, you will notice that they
switch from + to - and back again, and that the folder contents will be
in view or not.
