Need help changing floppy driver letter from B to A in XP

G

Greg Brown

Folks,

I need assistance changing the floppy drive letter assignments in
Windows XP from B to A. I have a USP connected drive that comes up as
drive B. The software I am using will only access a configuration disk
in drive A. I read somewhere once that there is a registry change, but
can not locate it again.
Any help will be appreciated.

Go into your BIOS and activate the Swap Floppy option or physically swap the
drive connectors.

Swap Floppy Drives
A useful feature for those machines that use two floppy drives, when enabled
this swaps the A: and B: drives. This enables you to change the bootable
floppy without having to open the case and switch the cable.

* Controller Connector: The single connector on one end of the cable is
meant to connect to the floppy disk controller, either on a controller card
or the motherboard.
* Drive A Connectors: The pair of connectors (or single connector in the
case of a three-connector cable) at the opposite end of the cable is
intended for the A: floppy drive. This is explained in more detail below.
* Drive B Connectors: The pair of connectors (or single connector in the
case of a three-connector cable) in the middle of the cable is intended for
the B: floppy drive.
