The boot record on my boot drive says it's FAT32, but the Partition Record
says it's NTFS. It's actually NTFS. THE system won't boot till I fix this,
and I've tried both Partition Magic, and Active Partition Recovery. PM
doesn't see anything wrong, abd APR sees the problem, but doesn't say how to
fix it.

I have also tried FDISK /MBR, and FIXBOOT. Neither fixes the problem.

Have you tried the convert command? convert <drive> /fs:ntfs - probably
won't work but it's worth a go
