Need help backing up Linux Webserver to Windows XP machine

We want to be able to our websites from a hosted Linux Webserver using
automated software that can be configured to download to our location
where we have Windows XP running.

Our server has a basic facility to create at Tar file from each website
and save it to another server.
There are problems with this method.
1. It takes too long. Nearly 3 hours.
2. The backup is not at our location, and not on the Linux box, but at
a totally different different location.
3. Our machines are behind a router and firewall, so we do not have an
exposed URL to point the backup to.
4. It is not fully automated and it creates a complete backup every
time.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I'm sorry, but I don't see what you want to know. Are you asking for
backup software for Windows or for Linux? There are better ways of
backing up on Linux than tar but why does it take so long? We don't
know how you are connected or how big the website files are.

You can do port forwarding to send the backup to whatever machine on
your network you want.

Do a Google for "back up programs linux" and you'll find a *lot* of good
information. In particular, check out the offerings from Acronis and
Arkeia.

What I want to do is automate the backup remotely from our Windows
machine;
do the backup in a Linux format that be used to restore to Linux;
and have the backup sent to our Windows machine.
Neither Acronis or Arkeia are what we want because we do not want to
use tape
or CD storage. We want to use a disk drive on the Windows machine.

I don't know why you say Acronis won't work. You can run True Image on
your Windows machine or on your Linux box - Acronis makes it for both
operating systems. Save the backups to where ever you want.
