Need computer and software configuration inventory utility

I need to be able to inventory a computer's installed software, dll
versions, RAM (and other hardware facts), as well as configuration
settings for the installed software, such as those stored in the
registry, .ini or other config files, and anywhere else pertaining to
the software package. I then need to compare the settings of two or
more computers. Can someone recommend a product that does al this? I
can do without the hardware settings, as I think siw.exe
(http://www.gtopala.com) does that well enough and I have it.

I thought Belarc was strictly a software inventory program. Will it go
through and create a database of versions and file contents so I can
compare .ini files?

Get the free copy & see if it does enough for you. I can't say whether
it will fully meet your needs. To do that you will have to make your
own assessment - not too hard is it ?

To get esoteric output you may have to pay.
