I am using XP home on my HP 2.8 gig notebook but I want to upgrade or
do a fresh install of my desktop system. It consists of and Asus
A7N8X-deluxe motherboard, AMD XP 3200+ 400fsb CPU, ATI Radeon 9800 pro, 256
meg videocard, and I am using Windows 98se at present time.

Does XP have the nforce chipset drivers etc? Or will I need to keep the
driver disks handy? Should I use XP home or Pro?

Thank you.

Just go to the Asus website and ATI website and look for drivers. I'm
sure they both have up to date drivers for their respective hardware.
Download all the necessary drivers before updating the OS. Also look
for any BIOS upgrades for your motherboard (the Asus site) and upgrade
the BIOS to the latest version. That way you will be sure to have
the latest ACPI BIOS available from Asus.

As for the OS, XP Home will probably suffice unless you need the
special networking and security options that Pro offers. You'll also
save around $100.
