Hello,

I am trying to do a repair installation for Windows XP
but everytime I try to start it, it asks for an Admin
password. I have my user account set up as the Admin, but
my password does not work. Is there a special password I
need to set up or is there a default one I can use? Any
help would be appreciated. Thanks

Tim

If your trying to do a repair install and it ask for a admin password, then
most likely your actually entering the recovery console. You don't want
that.
Boot from the XP cd, and when prompted hit enter to begin setup. Press F8 to
accept the license agreement. It will then search and find your existing XP
install. Select it, and choose R for repair. Back up any important data
files in case something goes wrong.

If you're doing a real repair install, as opposed to trying to start the
recovery console (which is the first 'R' option when you boot from CD)
then I didn't think it needed a password.

However if it is asking for one, it wants the one for 'Administrator',
which for XP home is normally blank (unless you specifically set it to
something else).
